Did you hear the president of the US ? He said this sentence regarding the war on Iraq. "We made this world a safer place".

I just cannot believe it anymore...... Is he from outer space ?

My name is Asra Marium, and I am a muslim student currently completing my journalism diploma in Canada. I have been a regular, on and of, reader of your paper, especially because i was born and raised most of my life in Abu-Dhabi, Emirates.

Just last week, I was given an assignment to research more about Irshad Manji and the Muslim Refusenik, according to her. The first thing I thought was to look into the news archive of your paper, confident that I would be able to get atleast something, but in vain.

Did AL-Jazeerah ever cover this story? And if they did, I would greatly appreciate if someone could send me some links, or a url that could helo me further in my research, as well being able to find out the paper's opinion and analysis on the story.

Sincerely,

Asra Marium

Editor: I don't think I remember any article about her.

US-Israeli war policy

http://www.gwu.edu/~nsarchiv/NSAEBB/NSAEBB98/

"The National Intelligence Archive has just released an update that references critical historical documents which detail the beginning of current U.S. intense pro-Israeli foreign policy duplicity under the smoke screen of Middle East peace broker. Recently declassified documents reveal that some current government officials, like Donald Rumsfeld, have been key players in covert schemes to help Israel violate international law and peace agreements going back to the Nixon Administration. For those who want to understand the roots of Zionist control of U.S. foreign policy, this important material is a must read."

Israel's desperate attack on Syria

"Some opponents of Israel’s expansionist strategy are commenting that this will be the next step, but I beg to differ. Israel’s economy is all but bankrupt. Unemployment is rife and inflation is rising. The burden of supporting such a vast arms bill without massive US support, already running into tens of billions of dollars a year, is simply unsustainable. The cost of occupation would be the final straw that would break Israel’s economy and would undoubtedly lead to the downfall of the Sharon government.

And with 250,000 troops tied down in Iraq, the US is in a real bind. The Rumsfeld ‘strategy’ has turned out to be a total disaster, both strategically, politically and economically. With every passing day, resistance to the occupation grows. Delusions of empire are, like Napoleon’s march on Moscow foundering, not in the snows of the steppes but in the sands of the desert. This is a reality that no amount of bluster or propaganda can alter. And the US presidential election draws ever nearer.

Israel’s attack on Syria is a sign of weakness, not strength, for without direct US participation in an attack and occupation of Syria, it’s difficult to see what options beyond intimidation and bluff, Sharon has to offer."

GOP Congressman Says Living Near Muslim Advocacy Group Ruined His Marriage

"U.S. Rep. Cass Ballenger (R) blames the breakup of his 50-year marriage partly on the stress of living near a leading American Muslim advocacy group... Another stress on their marriage: the decision by 'we holier-than-thou Republicans' in the House, Ballenger said, to ban gifts -- including meals and theater tickets from lobbyists -- that once meant 'a social life for (congressional) wives.'... Ballenger said in the post 9-11 environment in Washington, his wife, a homemaker, was anxious about all the activity at CAIR, including people unloading boxes and women 'wearing hoods,' or headscarves going in and out of the office building on New Jersey Avenue. 'That's 2 1/2 blocks from the Capitol,' he added, 'and they could blow it up.' 'This is out-and-out bigotry,' [CAIR spokesman Ibrahim Hooper] said. 'It's unworthy of an elected official at the national level. ... You wonder what he's been doing in Congress if this is the kind of analysis he does: 'You're a Muslim, so you're guilty.''"

Israel is Our Demise

The truth is that the figures shown in the graph on opensecrets.org doesn't begin to tell the truth.  One needs to look into categories such as Communications and Finance, both of which are dominated by Jewish supporters of Israel.  The last time I looked under Communications I found Haim Saban, at $12.3 million, Fred Eychaner at $7.5 million and Stephen Bing, at $5 million (and that's just for ONE YEAR) leading the pack and there was no one near them.  All their money, by no coincidence, went to the 'Democrats" which explains why the party bigwigs supported the war in Iraq and why so many of them place the interests of Israel before that of the US.

Israel is Our Demiseby Josh FrankDissident VoiceOctober 4, 2003It is well known that the pro-Israel lobby has been at the forefront in campaign contributions since the late 1980s.  Buying access and influencing policy has been their forte.  From Republicans to Democrats, pro-Zionist factions wield much power in Washington.  The American Israel Affairs Committee (AIPAC- www.aipac.org) has been the most active of these forces; ranking in at number four on Fortune Magazine’s top ten most effectual lobbying groups in the US (www.fortune.com/fortune/power25).  Although AIPAC has business partners on both sides of the aisle, Democrats reap the most benefits -- accepting over $20 million dollars more than the Republicans since 1990 (www.opensecrets.org/industries/indus.asp?Ind=Q05).http://www.dissidentvoice
