I really like what you're doing with aljazeerah, I hope the death threats stop. It is extremely, extremely disturbing that we can no longer advocate peace without ourselves being endangered by a mad and frenzied society, please continue to support what is right. Todd Presson
Dear Editor,
Like you, I live in the South. In
fact, I live in George W. Bush's home state, Texas. South Texas
as a matter of fact. I have a bumper sticker that says
"Another Veteran Against War With Iraq," and have had it on
for months.
People mutter behind my back, but most do
not confront me openly. Such is the way of the attitude behind
the talk. Once people do talk, they listen, and accept
differences. Such is the way of Truth. Yes, I was and am
afraid of potential violence against me and my car, but regardless,
the victories of the Truth have far outweighed the risks.
I hope you have the courage to continue.
Most appropriately, I hope that you read word-by-word the speech of
actor Tim Robbins, who was blacklisted by that idiot Dale Petrosky.
When you give in to the fear it only encourages them. We need
you now more than ever.
Please show faith and courage. Al-Jazeerah
is showing the US the truth about the War and what it has done to Iraq
and its citizens.
For your information, S. Texas is also the
home of the late John Henry Faulk, a Texas humorist blacklisted in the
McCarthy era. He did not give in to the haters, and ended up
winning a court case against them. At that time, it was the
first time in US history that a jury ever came back to the judge and
asked to give the plantiff (Johnny Faulk) more than he asked for.
We support you, the Truth, and especially
opponents of war.

Dear Dr. El-Najjar,
I am very disappointed to learn of the
threats made against you, and equally disappointed to learn that
your site has been disrupted as a result. Some people just can
not seem to sit well with the truth. I appreciate your hard work
and good content of reporting of the facts, as is always the case
whenever I have visited your site. It is a breath of fresh air in
comparison to the stale censored atmosphere of the cable and network
competitor's and there controllers. I hope to see you back up
and running in the very near future. Be safe.
Sincerely,
Mark

everything will turn out good for you

Dear Editor, I was sorry to hear about the ridiculous behavior of people threatening your life. Of course I am not surprised. I am a student at Hope College in Holland, Michigan. My roommate and I organized a discussion about the war and why it is not something that the U.S. government should be partaking in. We had various history, political science, sociologist, and religion professors talk about the negative aspects of American foreign policy in the region and how imperialism has negatively impacted the Middle East. For organizing and sponsoring this event, a pro-war supporter used every rule on the book to try and shut it down (it happened anyway) and violence was threatened on us non-patriots (although many thanked us for giving another point of view). Hopefully things will simmer down in a few weeks (at least in American opinion). I have found your site to be very interesting and helpful in better understanding the opinions of people around the world. Good luck with everything you are taking on at this time. Yours truly, - Tim Fry
Hi Dr. El-Najjar, Editor of Aljazeerah
Website
I just wanted to express my support of you
and of the work that you do in keeping the aljazeerah website up. It
is my homepage at work and I get a lot of news from it. I'm dismayed
to hear about the death threats that you've gotten recently, although
sadly I'm not surprised. Unfortunately some people feel threatened by
the truth, and your website is very powerful.
Thanks again for what you're doing and
continue to do in order to report the bloodbaths that are going on in
Iraq and Palestine, and beyond.
Sincerely,
Sheri Whately
I just want to thank you for your efforts on putting this web site together. It is nice to have as many different view points on important issues as is possible and your site made it easy to find viewpoints that were not easy to find in the main stream media. I wish you the best and I hope you will find a way to bring your site back on line soon. Thanks again for all your work. Frank McCulley
Hi,
I just wanted to say how sad it is that
you would receive threats for telling all points of view in a
country that is supposed to be liberated
(USA)! How can we say we are at war to liberate a
country when we can not even state
opinions here in the US without receiving life threats, or
being treated ugly! The way I look at
buying records, watching TV actors, etc is if I like what
they sing or the TV shows they are in
then I listen and watch. If not I don't. My decisions on what I
buy and who I listen to is not based on
someone's opinions whether I agree with them or not.
Maybe this war in Iraq has woke us up to
just how much freedom or liberation we have here, when
opinions can not be stated in a peaceful
manner without danger of threats or boycotts or violence!
Again, I am sorry that you would have to
endure threats from those that disagree with the freedom
of speech you have at your website for
all opinions and facts.

Dear Brother,
I wish I had a dollar for
every time I have received a death threat. My phone number is on the
answering machine at the Masjid (mosque), I get hate calls all the
time.
In my experience, people who
make anonymous threats don't act on them. If it is the will of Allah
no one can harm you, I admire the work you do and hope you can stay
with it. I am sure that you are blessed.
In any case may Allah
bless you and all that is yours.
Assalamu Alaikum Roy

I'm sorry to read there are threats
against you. Some people, and I think (I hope) they are a small
minority,
just don't get it. They don't have a
clue about the purpose of free speech. The only way you can
satisfy them
is to agree with their views.
Hoping you'll be back soon...more than
ever we need to hear all opinions

Dear Dr. El-Najjar,
I'm so sorry to hear about these
horrible (and criminal) threats, Dr. El-Najjar. It must
be very frightening. It's appalling that this is happening in
this country. It is not the same country I was born and grew
up in. Please know that millions stand with you and for you.
Damn the bigotry, racism and tyranny in this country today! I
can't imagine what I could do to help except to disseminate this
information far and wide. You can know that I will be letting
everyone on my list serve of about 1,000 know what has happened.
Please keep us informed.
Thank you,

It sickens me to see the narrow-minded attitudes pouring out in the name of "patriotism". I am saddened to see that you have been threatened simply for providing information that does not always follow along with the propaganda from the main media. All I hear are paper-thin claims that our troops are fighting to protect our "freedoms", yet I see censorship and threats against anyone who has the courage to question the White House views. I do not feel that my "freedom" has been assured and I do not feel that the safety of my family has been assured by the U.S. wars in the Middle East. Anyone who thinks that taking Saddam Hussein out of power will directly and easily relate to order in the Middle East and the end of terrorism is peering through blind eyes. Our leadership thinks they are justified in policing the world. I disagree. I am not of Arabic descent. I am a "red blooded, white American" and I am ashamed. Moreover, I am a taxpaying citizen of the U.S. and I am outraged by the stance of our government. I am sorry that some ... has threatened you. I have just found your web site and I have found the content to provide a relatively unbiased view that the American media is afraid to show. Thank you and good luck.

Your site is one of the only news outlets that is not a mouth-piece for the ruling Junta. Keep up the good work. Thanks, Don in San Francisco.
sorry to hear about your web site being shut down and life threatened. That was a very cowardly thing. I sent the info to some mailing list. I looked to your site as an alternative to the mainstream sites that increasingly only showed sanitized news. peace Jamie C
Sir, I wish to express my outrage at the news that the establishment has resorted to threats against you. Having been unsuccessful in shutting down your excellent news service, they now turn against the editor. All in the name of "free press, free speech, and of course "democracy". It is painfully obvious, that we are experiencing world censorship against all news, not emanating from the Washington-Tel Aviv. We wish to express our solidarity with you, hoping that alJazeerah news will be back as soon as possible. Sincerely Eve Metz and all your friends from Australia
Dear Editor, I apologize for the ignorance of some of my countrymen. I have been a regular reader of your website since before the war began, and I, for one, appreciate the alternative view (especially the cartoons) that offer an alternative to the government generated propaganda. I hope you remain safe with your family and that you find some way to carry on with your mission. God bless. John Byk Garden City, MI "Increasingly, by choice or by accident, this is the role our nation has taken -- the role of those who make peaceful revolution impossible by refusing to give up the privileges and the pleasures that come from the immense profits of overseas investments. I am convinced that if we are to get on the right side of the world revolution, we as a nation must undergo a radical revolution of values. We must rapidly begin the shift from a ‘thing-oriented’ society to a ‘person-oriented’ society. When machines and computers, profit motives and property rights are considered more important than people, the giant triplets of racism, materialism, and militarism are incapable of being conquered." -Rev.
