THANK YOU FOR HELPING TO TELL US THE TRUTH. THERE IS SO MUCH I WANT TO SAY....BUT THER E IS SO LITTLE TIME TO SAY IT. GOD IS GREAT.. LONG LIVE FREEDOM.

Triumph

-----In 1940, five years before America died while giving

-----birth to The Superpower, Louis M Hacker wrote in his

-----fine book *The Triumph of American Capitalism*:

--------All wars today, the state can prove, are defensive.

-----Now, sixty-three years later, the current rage is for

-----the state to prove that all wars are offensive.

-----The Superpower's invasion of Iraq is the latest attempt

-----at a proof; and there's no doubt which side is being

-----invaded and which side is invading.

-----But now the European Union strides onto the world stage

-----and attempts to hide which is which.

-----Under the Tuesday April 1, 2003 headline

----------EU Drafts Human Rights Resolution For War

-----Associated Press reports:

--------The European Union proposed a United Nations human

--------rights resolution Tuesday urging both sides to "abide

--------strictly" by international law in the war on Iraq.

-----In other words, the war of aggression against Iraq is

-----perfectly all right if both sides abide strictly by

-----the Hitler Threat.

-----Hitler Threat?

-----Back then the threat was phrased so delicately:

------------Proclamation of the Reich Government

------------to the German Volk, February 1, 1933

--------May the understanding of all others assist us in

--------fulfilling this, our most sincere wish, for the

--------welfare of Europe, and more, for the welfare of the

--------whole world.

--------As great as is our love for our army as the bearer

--------of our arms and the symbol of our great past, we

--------would be happy if the world by limiting its own

--------armaments, would never again make it necessary for

--------us to increase ours.

-----Now beautiful words are no longer needed:

-------------THERE SHALL BE NO INTERNATIONAL LAW

--------------------EVER AGAIN, ANYWHERE!

-----That is just one part of The Superpower's Declaration

-----of Slavery.

-----First Iraq, etc.

-----Then Europe, etc.

Top reason for stopping the "war": It's eating away America's future.

I want a future that doesn't involve house-to-house fighting in Nebraska as a last desperate band of American patriot guerrillas fight off Homeland Security storm troopers.

I want a future where my children can go to church and be taught to love their neighbors.

I want a future I can be proud of -- democracy, jobs, schools, ART!

I want a future where there are laws to protect our freedom and there are laws to keep weapons manufacturers from raking it in.

I want a future where the people of the world at least TRY to work together to keep the human race from blowing up the planet!  Let's start moving in that direction.  "Oh say does that Star-Spangled Banner still wave?  O'Er the land of the Free and the home of the Brave?"  It takes real bravery to have a hopeful future.  Stop this dirty little "war" today!

Best regards, Jane Stillwater, Berkeley, CA

"Imagine a world where EVERY child is wanted, nurtured, protected and loved:  World Peace in one generation!"  Wear a peace pin today.

I am against violence which usually occurs when both sides run out of brains. I judge governments by the way they treat their people and in my estimation Saddam Hussein and his government has constantly violated human decency in the way they treat the Iraqi people but their are other governments who need to look at the way they treat their people and their neighbors. Religion, religion what crimes have been committed in thy name. Paul E. Wright

Editor: This is an internal Iraqi issue. Anyway, does a violation of human rights in any country give the US and the UK the right to invade that country? Who gave them that right? The UN should be the authority to address such issues. President Bush never mentioned this as a cause of the war. He announced that his goal is disarming Iraq of weapons of mass destruction, which have never been found by UN inspectors or by US-UK forces.

Dear Sirs,

I am not affiliated with any organization, however I feel compelled to plead with you to report as fairly and honestly as possible with  the situation so volatile in your region.  The absolute truth that is unbiased and fair is an imperative.  You know that Iraq has even banned your network, which has in the past shown them in a favorable light.  Why do you suppose that is?  If they weren't planning to do something that they didn't want you to see they would be more open.

Please Please be Journalists that can be counted on for the TRUTH.  I care about the Iraqi people as well as any others who are in harms way.

Sincerely

They send their troops towards Baghdad, but they have been warned by Iraqi

leaders:

The soldier's mothers will cry blood instead of tears.

They"ll see their sons and daughters been burned by the same petrol the US

leaders are so eager to get.

Meanwhile US goes bankrupt.

Go, rich Arab people, and buy CNN! Take over US media!

I'm sorry for the people, but not for those who still think they can make

profit out of war.

Subj: Catholics in Iraq appeal for sanity

From:
William R. Marra

Dear Friend in Christ, Prince of Peace:

On the evening of Thursday, March 27, at 5:45 pm (Italy), a desperate
appeal from Baghdad was received at the offices of Radiotelepace, a
television station of the Diocese of Chiavari in Liguori, Italy.

As neither fax nor computer were any longer available, the text of this
urgent appeal was dictated over the phone from the home of the Most
Rev. Shlemon Warduni, Auxiliary Bishop of Baghdad of the Chaldeans, using
one of the few telephone lines still working in the city.

Although this text was released by Zenit.org in French, German, and
Portuguese on the following day, March 28, as of this date (April 1) to
our knowledge it has not yet appeared anywhere in English.

We wish to signal our grateful acknowledgement to Radiotelepace, the
original source of this text, for making it available to us in the
original Italian.

Please give this English version as wide a circulation as possible!

in the union of prayers,
William R. Marra

Appeal of the Leaders of the Christian Churches in Iraq

We, the leaders of the Christian Churches in Iraq, in these difficult and
terrible days which cross our country, Iraq, put forth from the depths of
our hearts, in union with all men of good will, and with those who love
peace, an appeal to those responsible, so that they listen to the voice of
God, Who commands love, brotherhood and pardon to His children, so that
they not be the cause of destruction, of bloodshed, of an increase in
orphans, of handicapped, and of widows, only to arrive at their own
personal and egoistic interests.

May those responsible for this aggression of the Iraqi people listen to
the tears of children, the cry of suffering mothers and fathers and the
despair of girls and women, may they heed the suffering of all the Iraqis
due to the lack of medicine and of everything necessary for life, and may
they cease sending missiles and destructive bombs, and may they sit down
instead at the table for dialogue; may they be able to ask the Lord for
the light to follow heavenly principles, the rights of man, and moral and
human values; may they know how to judge reasonably, to find the ways
which would guarantee the immediate cessation of the war, so that a
lasting and desired peace be realized; there are still so many ways and
many means to arrive at a solution of the world problems through dialogue
and understanding, so that all may live a tranquil and peaceful life.

We, the leaders of the Christian Churches, together with our Muslim
brothers in Iraq, where we have lived together with love and fraternal
charity for hundreds of years in this peaceful country, thank all those
who work to stop the aggression against us, and especially the Holy Father
John Paul II, and we ask to continue prayer and assiduous work to
influence those in whose hands lies the decision to cease this unjust
aggression on our tormented people. This aggression causes the death of
children, of the elderly, of women, of the sick; and our youth on the
front are left to defend their country with loyalty.

The Heads of the Christian Churches in Iraq

I hope the Arab world will remember that almost half of all Americans did not vote for George Bush, and it is still completely questionable whether he even won the office, or stole it. If what he is doing is "American" then I am embarrassed to be an American. To the people of Iraq - I am so sorry this is happening!! We who are against this war (and there are many!!) are protesting and praying daily for this to end. It is wrong, we think so, and the world thinks so. May this be over now, so can remember to live in peace with each other - I pray you can forgive our country's actions, as they are really only the actions of a few power/oil/war hungry leaders, and those who have been duped into believing them. God is greater than us all. - Amy Graves  Sedona, AZ.

Editor: Amy, the whole world knows what you said. News and photos of US anti-war demonstrations have been published in almost all Arab newspapers and shown on Arab TV station. People all over the world know that most Americans are peaceful and good people.

Dear Editor,
Can you or any of your readers explain to me WHY the United Nations is not stopping this illegal war?  I have tried to find way to contact them.  Do you know how? I am tired of waiting for them to act.  Every day I pick up the newspaper and hope to see these headlines: "UN Security Council declares that war against Iraq is Illegal.  UN demands immediate cease-fire and withdrawal of US/British Troops from Iraq. The UN has requested an Oil Embargo against the US and Britain until all troops have been withdrawn.  Any loss of revenue to OPEC for complying with embargo will be reimbursed by UN disaster relief  funds.  Disaster relief funds to be reimbursed by US/Britain before Oil Embargo lifted."
There, now why wouldn't this work? Simple, yet effective.  What are they waiting for?
Sincerely,

Dana Basilica

Editor: The UN Security Council did all what it could to prevent the war. It disagreed with the US-UK war on Iraq. Because of the veto power that the US and the UK have, the Council cannot take a resolution to impose embargo against them. The American and the British people are the only hope to rise up against the war. The UN is dead and there is no international law anymore.

Canadian Students Chain Themselves to U.S. Consulate

Four Vancouver students chained themselves to the doors of the U.S. consulate the morning of Tuesday April 1st in protest of the U.S. Imperialist war on Iraq. They locked themselves to the door handles with steel chain wrapped tightly around their necks and waists secured with pad locks and bike locks.

The group, Mobilization Opposed To Aggression On Baghdad (MOAB), released a statement in which they condemned the U.S. for "shredding international law to initiate an unjust, unilateral war on Iraq." They stated that this war "is about control of the second largest oil reserves on the planet." The group also expressed fear that the war will be used "as a justification for the further destruction of the Palestinian People" and cited Israel's intensification of illegal land grabs on Palestinian soil. One of the students, Macdonald Stainsby, compared the rounding up of asylum seekers in the U.S. under the guise of "Operation Liberty Shield" to the Nazi roundups of Jews and Communists in the late 30's."We know from recent history what the consequences of silence can be" said Stainsby. In their statement the students called on "all people of good conscience" to engage in "creative resistance to the racist war in North America and abroad."

After shutting down the Consulate for an hour, the students were removed from the doors by police and arrested. As they were escorted to the police van a group of supporters sang "together we will stop this insanity." The four were released after spending twelve hours in jail. They have been charged with Mischief and will appear in court on April 15th.

To arrange an interview with the students please contact their Media Liaison Mia Amir at 604-433-4489 or miaspora@yahoo.ca. To view pictures of the lock-down go to http://vancouver.indymedia.org/news/2003/04/40274.php.

Kerry Angers GOP in Calling For 'Regime Change' in U.S.

By Dan Balz

Friday, April 4, 2003; Page A10

Republicans jumped on Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) yesterday in the wake of reports that the Democratic presidential candidate had told a New Hampshire audience that "we need a regime change in the United States."

Kerry, who supported the resolution authorizing President Bush to go to war against Iraq but was sharply critical of the way Bush handled the diplomacy before the war, had largely refrained from criticism since U.S. troops launched their operations March 19. But according to newspaper accounts, the Massachusetts senator delivered a stinging rebuke Wednesday during a campaign trip.

Kerry said that, after talking to foreign diplomats and world leaders recently, he had concluded that "it will take a new president" to repair the damage Bush has done because other leaders are not "going to trust this president, no matter what."

"What we need now is not just a regime change in Saddam Hussein and Iraq, but we need a regime change in the United States," Kerry said.

House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.) and House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Tex.) led the chorus of GOP critics who attacked Kerry for challenging Bush during wartime. "Senator Kerry's remark, equating regime change in Iraq with regime change in the United States, is not what we need at this time," Hastert said. "What we need is for this nation to pull together, to support our troops and to support our commander in chief."

Democrats pointed out that during the Kosovo air campaign, both Hastert and DeLay criticized President Bill Clinton. DeLay was quoted in an interview with The Washington Post as saying, "We have a president I don't trust, who has proven my reason for not trusting him: He had no plan. We have a civil war that was falsely described as a huge humanitarian problem, when in comparison to other places, it was nothing."

Kerry spokesman Robert Gibbs responded to GOP criticism by saying: "Clearly, Senator Kerry intended no disrespect or lack of support for our commander in chief during wartime, but the point of this campaign is, obviously, to change the administration of this government. And unlike many of his Republican critics, Senator Kerry has worn the uniform, served his country, seen combat, so he'd just as soon skip their lectures about supporting our troops."

Dear Sir,

Why do You not show the pictures of those hundreds of gased Kurdi civilians but keep showing photos of Iraqi children with bandages on their wounds? The Kurds were killed without any warning. Saddam knew for months that war is not going to be avoided but he and his government didn't do anything to evacuate or otherwise try to protect children and civilians. Did he ask for help from the neighboring Arab countries for that?

Tuomo Niemelä

Editor: We cover current events. The incident you are talking about was in 1988. Yes, he asked for help. According to the Arab League Charter, if any Arab state is attacked all other Arab states should help it. But nobody seems to dare to enter into a confrontation against the United States.

Salaam aleikum,

I found a short article mentioning the presence in Iraq of Israel special forces. Have you any information on this and if yes, was that published on your website?

Thank you for your time. Salaam.

Editor: Yes. It was mentioned in several news items before.

Margaret Atwood The Globe and Mail (Toronto)
Friday, April 4, 2003

Dear America: This is a difficult letter to write, because I'm no longer sure who you are.
.
I thought I knew you: We'd become well acquainted over the past 55 years. You were the Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck comic books I read in the late 1940s. You were the music I sang and danced to: the Andrews Sisters, Ella Fitzgerald, the Platters, Elvis. You were a ton of fun.
.
You wrote some of my favorite books. You created Huckleberry Finn, and Hawkeye, and Beth and Jo in "Little Women," courageous in their different ways. Later, you were my beloved Thoreau, father of environmentalism, witness to individual conscience; and Walt Whitman, singer of the great Republic; and Emily Dickinson, keeper of the private soul. Even later, you were the amazing trio, Hemingway, Fitzgerald and Faulkner, who traced the dark labyrinths of your hidden heart. You were Sinclair Lewis and Arthur Miller, who, with their own American idealism, went after the sham in you, because they thought you could do better.
.
You were Marlon Brando in "On The Waterfront," you were Humphrey Bogart in "Key Largo," you were Lillian Gish in "Night of the Hunter." You stood up for freedom, honesty and justice; you protected the innocent. I believed most of that. I think you did, too. It seemed true at the time.
.
I won't go into the reasons why I think your recent Iraqi adventures have been - taking the long view - an ill-advised tactical error. Let's talk, then, not about what you're doing to other people, but about what you're doing to yourselves.
.
You're gutting the constitution. Already your home can be entered without your knowledge or permission, you can be snatched away and incarcerated without cause, your mail can be spied on, your private records searched. I know you've been told all this is for your own safety and protection, but think about it for a minute. Anyway, when did you get so scared? You didn't used to be easily frightened.
.
You're running up a record level of debt. Keep spending at this rate and pretty soon you won't be able to afford any big military adventures. Either that or you'll go the way of the Soviet Union: lots of tanks, but no air conditioning. That will make folks very cross. They'll be even crosser when they can't take a shower because your short-sighted bulldozing of environmental protections has dirtied most of the water and dried up the rest. Then things will get hot and dirty indeed.
.
If you proceed much further down the slippery slope, people around the world will stop admiring the good things about you. They'll decide that your city upon the hill is a slum and your democracy is a sham, and therefore you have no business trying to impose your sullied vision on them. They'll think you've abandoned the rule of law. They'll think you've fouled your own nest.
.
The British used to have a myth about King Arthur. He wasn't dead, but sleeping in a cave, it was said; in the country's hour of greatest peril, he would return. You, too, have great spirits of the past you may call upon: men and women of courage, of conscience, of prescience. Summon them now, to stand with you, to inspire you, to defend the best in you. You need them.
.

Hi

Id like to submit my peace rally photos. I took these photos about anti-war demonstrations

http://futureassassin.com/war/  on March 20 in Vancouver BC Canada. If you

use them could you please download them and use them on your server instead

of linking to my server as I have limited bandwidth.

Since I took the photos and own the rights to them I give you permission to

use them on your website.

Regards

Arek Halusko

Editor: Thanks Arek. I'll post them on the Peace Activists section, later.

I have been looking for your English language website for sometime. I

found the (new?) website yesterday and passed it onto US and

Australian friends.

I note your response to some letters is to say that you are not

related to Al Jazeera TV. Can you say what your relationship is?

I see that a number of Australians have written to your website. I

can confirm that many Australians are opposed to war. In mid

February about one million Australians ( 5% of our population)

marched against the war. This was the biggest demonstration in our

history.

Next weekend (Palm Sunday, the Sunday before Easter) should see an

equally massive demonstration against the war.

Unfortunately we have an extremely conservative government in power.

The war does not have bipartisan support. It is the first time in our

history that Australian troops have gone to war without such

bipartisan report.

Regards

Brian Kenny

PS: I'll try to write more fully. It is good to find a source of news

and opinion that shows the point of view of the Arab world.u

Tune in to your news daily and especially appreciate news of the Middle East conflicts.  While I find no excuse for wars in this day and age of communication, people like Saddam must be reigned in.  With so many organizations advocating against brutality find it difficult to understand why so much is going on in the world.  With so much of the world against Saddam's venue wonder why, because of his love of his country - and should be of his countrymen - not have stood down.  Far too many lives are being lost.

If the reason for the war is really oil then I fear that Canada, being the third largest supplier to the U.S. may not be far down the line for attack.  However, they will not be able to use brutality by Government or WMD as an excuse.

Further, hope that one day soon the U.S. is not allowed to make decisions for the rest of the world.  It was very convenient and self-serving to opt out of Kyoto and International War Crimes.  I mostly hope that no WMD are found in Iraq to prove that Bush's attack was purely for oil!

Thanks for the opportunity to 'spout off'.

The Chemonics International Co in Washington DC is compiling a list of Companies who wish to apply for infrastructure

Do other Middle Eastern Countries do contract work for Chemonics International,in which case are they subscribing to the American economy.

I always look for alternative information in Internet, and I think there aren´t enough press in Spanish. There are nearly 700.000.000 millions of persons who live in spanish (nearly 40.000.000 in EEUU) , and i think it would be good for aljazeerah to have an spanish edition. People in South America know very well the consecuences of USA imperialism, and those who had been a good education (the less of them) can read aljazeerah, but what happens with those who haven´t got an expensive education and don´t speak english or arab?

My english is not as good as i would like,  but i know lot of people, some journalists that could translate aljazeera from english to spanish.

Have you ever thought about an Aljazeerah in spanish?

Marisol

Editor: I welcome this suggestion. Any volunteer translators are welcome. If there are enough people to commit to this effort, it will happen.

Dear Friends at CNN.

As little kids during WWII, it was nice, a movie every Saturday for ten cents, and "The Eyes and Ears of the World," news item between the two movies. Cartoons were best. They were at the end of the movies, while our folks tried to drag us out in the middle of the cartoons. Our only problem.

Today, the movies are, what $9?, and no news. Instead, we listened with our parents, eagerly, sitting on the floor in front of the large, attractive, wooden radio.

However, zip fastly to the 21st century and we are flooded with news of the Iraqi invasion 24 hours per day. And kids get to see TV shows flooded with killing equipment.  It is obvious CNN and others do not wish to "allow" Americans to see what CNN International offers the "better-educated and well-informed" European community.

CNN is at fault. Wolf is up 23 of the 24 hours of the day, talking of nothing else.

Questions to ask Wolf  at a cocktail party:

What did you do today?
How long does it take to get the top of your head so polished? Especially in a sandy country?
Do you eat Iraqi food? Kosher food? We hear they serve it to the Army.
Where do attend Shul? How do you attend?
Are there any synagoges in Kuwait? Iraq? Likely none.
How long were you the Editor of the J Post (Jerusalem Post)? Do you, too, like Ari Fleischer and others in the U.S. Government, have dual citizenship with Israel?
What will you do when there is no war, and when Israel has finished off and completed the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians?
Who will hire, you Wolf?

Wolf's Bosses at CNN: "See what you've done? Fox has got 2nd place. It's all your fault! Can't you talk about something else besides Iraq?

Wolf's Wife: "Can't you talk about something else? What are you, a monomaniac?"

Wolf's kids:  "Oh, are you Daddy? I didn't recognize you."

Wolf's friends: "Can't you talk about something else? What are you, a monomaniac?"

Wolf's Co-workers at Coffee Break, Lunch or Dinner:
"Can't you talk about something else? Forget Iraq for just five minutes! What are you, a monomaniac?"

CNN Watcher: Wolf, how much money do you make for what you do?

CNN Watchers: "How about news on Central America, Africa, South America, China, Bulgaria, Greece, England (not just banal Blair), and the Scandinavian community? You know, goys are really curious, really want their kids to know something else about the world that they live in, honestly."

So, come on, Wolf, get off it, and on to other tracks. Thank you. Please, talk about something else, before we too die of Iraqomania, too!

Sincerely,
The Media Monitors

Hilmi Salem

The Editor,

Al Jazeerah

Sir,

Congratulations on a superb effort.

For your readers, a ditty and some worldwide anti-war boycott news.

Yankee Doodle, send them up

Yankee Doodle went to town

On all the little kiddies

Stuck a feather in his hat

and called them his en-e-mies.

Yankee Doodle keep it up,

you would-be eastern grandee,

mind girls’ feet and watch your step,

and with the bombs be handy.

Yankee Doodle send them up

as high as kites on candy

those pretty boys in airforce blue

and with the bombs so handy.

Yankee Doodle send them up,

you oily Texas dandy,

send fireworks at market time,

then with the mike be handy.

Yankee Doodle, shock and awe?

And then your great idea?

So they’ll all grow up loving you

and help you bomb Korea?

Yankee Doodle lock them up

in cages down in Cuba

for they’ve no shoes or uniforms

and don’t respect Geneva.

Yankee Doodle, we love you,

most diggers cheer this slaughter,

as Kilroy does his Irish jig

and Basra calls for water.

Yankee Doodle keep it up

and please send lots more armour,

with bunker-busting DU shells

to sterilize the water.

Yankee Doodle, keep it up,

it’s the grandest show in town.

We love you as you waltz to hell

and the kiddies all fall down.

Yankee Doodle, teach them how

to love their Uncle Sam,

this nation half of children,

like you taught poor Vietnam.

Yankee Doodle, loft it up,

your old blood-spangled banner.

Old Gory lights arabian nights,

In the usual Yankee manner.

Yankee Doodle, without you,

they’ve danced five thousand years,

now you bring bouquets of doodle bombs,

and you wonder at their tears?

Yankee Doodle keep your hat

and your two-ton petrol pony.

I’ll buy from Jacques and boycott you,

and Donald’s macaroni.

The United States Government will spend more on the

military in fiscal year

2003, than all the rest of the countries on Earth

combined. Current

expenditures are 437 billion and our past obligations

are 339 billion, this

equals 776 billion. 46% of our Taxes go to the

Military Industrial

Complex:http://www.warresisters.org/piechart.htm This

figure doesn't even

begin to account for all of the off-budget, black

projects, homeland

security nor the 40+ billion the United States

Government will spend on

intelligence in 2003.
