Only those people who are
morally and intellectually dead could approve of this
illegal capitalist war
against the Muslims.
i keep asking my Christian
friends "would Jesus approve of this war?"
i get no response.
If
there were true justice in this war, the entire administration would
be shipped
the the Hague and tried
for "war crimes against humanity" on the very same
principles that the nazi's
were held accountable for.
the only consolation i can
offer my Muslim brothers is that the very same
miscreants that are waging
genocide on you are waging a war in our country
to strip us of our civil
rights and using the 'Muslim terrorist' as a pretext.
perhaps, our country has
become too self centered, idolant or just plain lazy
to figure out what would
be obvious to a 12 year old.
the united states has
become the fourth Reich.
I am so sorry for what my
government is doing and lying about it every step of
the way.

A letter to President George Bush By Teemu Monkkonen
Dear Sir, You
are a leader of great nation. That position comes with certain
responsibilities. Among others You have promised to protect the
constitution of the United States of America, not to weaken it. “There
is no human institution but has its dangers. The greater the
institution, the greater the chances of abuse. Democracy is a great
institution and therefore it is liable to be greatly abused. The remedy
therefore is not avoidance of democracy but reduction of the possibility
of abuse to a minimum.”
(Gandhi) One cannot
preserve democracy by reducing civil liberties, which is the
foundation of American society. As
a citizen of the world I have been watching the ongoing war with
sadness. My heart is with US. troops and Iraqis alike. They all are
victims of the war that had been in planning years before 9-11. Soldiers
and those innocent civilians who have to face the consequences,
brought upon them by leaders they have not chosen, are paying the
highest price of the existence of American Empire and so
called American way of life. Your policy has created a situation
where the dissent is the greatest form of American patriotism. We
the people of the world know that the war on terrorism is righteous
deed, as the war on tyranny, poverty and disease. But those battles
cannot be fought with weapons of war. We need radically different
attitude and approach on those problems than Your government has
chosen. "Eye for an eye leaves everybody blind."(Gandhi)
Your government has declared a war against the UN and all democracies
and nations on this planet. Your government has declared a
war against all the people of the world. -“Violent
means will give violent freedom” (Gandhi) Mr.
President, You have started something that You can no longer control, it
is beyond You. Your actions have truly started a process that
will eventually lead to a real democracy and elimination of
tyranny, poverty, disease and war itself. And that is indeed a
divine cause. Your actions have led to a situation where there are two
superpowers: US. military and the people of the world. There's an
old saying: “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice shame on
me.” But when you'd been fooled too many times you can't get
fooled again. And now we are tired of the lies of the establishment that
You represent. “An
error does not become truth by reason of multiplied propagation, nor
does truth become error because nobody will see it.”
(Gandhi) People
are aware that Your government is promoting a policy that is dictated by
economical interests of very few. World need to disarm American military
industrial complex and shatter the power of the mighty oil
companies. We
know that United States of America is controlled by economical
principles of very rich and powerful corporate interests. In
the 1930’s such a conjunction of corporate and political
interests was called fascism, but today it is called American way
of life. We oppose that. We
know that political assassinations of JFK, MLK and RFK were
executed and covered up by operative elements of the US
government. We
know that US government organizations, CIA among others, deals drugs all
over the world in order to support US economy. We
know that US democracy does not represent its people but a small rich
elite. That is called "Plutocracy". We
know that real freedom, democracy and peace follow when we the people of
the world start acting as responsible citizens and take back what
belongs to us. We
know that 21st century will not be remembered as “American
Century”, but rather as a century of emerging world civilization.
We
know that we will eventually prevail. We are enough to change the status
quo that had been held successively for almost a
century and half by the ruling elite. Dear
Sir, This is not a declaration of war. On the contrary this is a
declaration of peace. This is a declaration that we will create a world
civilization and you have a choice to make: either you’re with us or
against us. Regarding this matter there is no third option. This is our
moral responsibility and divine right. -“As
soon as we lose the moral basis, we cease to be religious. There is no
such thing as religion over-riding morality. Man, for instance, cannot
be untruthful, cruel or incontinent and claim to have God on his
side.”
(Gandhi) May God continue to bless America!
If enduring great pain, loss and suffering is any measure of the validity of a spiritual belief it is the people of the Mohammed who deserve the greatest of Allah's (the creators) consideration. I do have concerns about state-mandated forced-Islamic-spiritual practices in Arab society---> and I hope that the people of the Arab world will one day have the freedom to decide who and what spirituality they believe in as individuals. But more important is that I'm certain that the majority of citizens in the United States are soon to say that there is only one true god named Allah three times in a row! I'm not sure of the exact saying but it is inevitable, the spirits of US citizens need to know this truth and the creator (Allah) is teaching us. I apologize that we can't stop Bush's terrorism sooner, we are trying, many spiritual wise ones are working on it! On behalf of all indigenous peoples of the world, may peace return to our ancient homelands! May peace return to our ancient homelands! May peace return to our ancient homelands! Love, Deane Rimerman Olympia, Washington Long live Rachel Corrie
Editor: Muslims do not worship God because this is mandated by the state. Who told you so. There are about eight million Muslims in the US, I'm sure there is a mosque in Olympia. Go and ask them.
While Rachel Corrie is loved and respected in many other parts of the world, U.S media sources have swept her story under the rug and some Americans, such as the individual who wrote this letter, have chosen to express their hatred toward her. This situation is both tragic and symbolic in that, it underscores the degree to which Palestinians, and those who've chosen to speak out in support of them, have been demonized by U.S media. In light of this country's avoidance of investigating events surrounding the USS Liberty, and countless other incidents where U.S citizens have been assaulted by Israeli forces, we must ask openly, who is our government more loyal to; U.S citizens or Ariel Sharon?

I am very dissatisfied with the American Media. Even a source I have relied on (NPR) seems very much in line with the rest of the distortions of the mainstream American media. The failure of the US government and the majority of Americans to make a connection between policies such as attacking Iraq and Israeli aggression and their own sense of security is very disturbing. I am beginning to wonder how long I can live in a society so full of disparity and outright lies. Like any other news source I do not always agree with al Jazeerah, but I am thankful that i have a source that is less biased than my American news sources. Sincerely, Rex Michael Dillon San Jose, CA
I've been longing for more balanced reporting on the war and had hoped an english version of Al Jazeera could fill in the blanks. Thanks a million for http://www.aljazeerah.info/. While I some times disagree with some of the more "pro arab" views expressed, I am grateful to be able to read them and see what the arab perspective is. Keep up the good work and don't let hackers get you down! Regards, Jonathan Cano

dear editor thanks and congratulations for the humanitarian and professional efforts to cover the iraq invassion. it is a great success to keep your professionalism to transmit the activity of the invadors and the efforts of the iraqi people as they are doing. we are really thankful to aljazeerah for its commitment and relentless trying to pick the truth from the dark of the one-eyed media campaigns. it is a war to destroy a nation, a country and a colourful heritage of culture. it is a war to control the oil, wealth and the strategic importance of the land. so it is really about to impossible to keep yourself only on a professional doctrine. but the aljazeerah has been doing the hard task to keep itself utmost professional from the beginning of the war of invassion. we want hard facts from the media. we hate medias as campaign tools in favour of a killers and invadors. thanks again for the future for doing so. good luck. shamimul islam
For Americans who want us to hurry up and
get it over with (which means, hurry up and kill those Iraqis,
civilians and military, and let's end this war), or who say the war is
wrong but we have to support the troops, look at the photos and the
captions at http://www.marchforjustice.com/id191.htm and

Truth and reality are two concepts that seem foreign to most American news media.
Reuters (March 31, 2003) reports that "American television network NBC said on Monday it had severed its relations with veteran reporter Peter Arnett after he told Iraqi television that the U.S. war plan against Saddam Hussein had failed."
"I said in that interview essentially what we all know about the war, that there have been delays in implementing policy, there have been surprises," Arnett told NBC's "Today" show.
However, NBC said, "It was wrong for Mr. Arnett to grant an interview with state-controlled Iraqi TV, especially at a time of war and it was wrong for him to discuss his personal observations and opinions.”
According to Reuters, Arnett's remarks were received with anger by the administration in Washington. One White House source said they were based on "a position of complete ignorance."
Also according to Reuters, Arnett's view echoed similar comments in many U.S. media after the rapid advance of U.S. forces through southern Iraq slowed south of Baghdad amid disruptive attacks on its long supply lines by persistent resistance, particularly in the towns.
Pulitzer Prize Winning reporter Arnett had earlier been fired from CNN for a report that neither the major media nor the politicians wanted revealed. In 1998 the Pentagon pressured the news channel over a documentary in which Arnett alleged that U.S. commandos had used sarin gas on American troops who had defected to Laos during the Vietnam War.
NBC/MSNBC is the outfit that San Marino Librarian Irene McDermott says figures first among "The Best Mainstream Media." Ms. McDermott seems oblivious to the fact that a major NBC/MSNBC partner is the Washington Post, noted war hawks as brazen and biased as Fox News.
Next, a story that hasn't even made the mainstream US media involves the murderous American cowboy raid on a British tank and two armored vehicles in Southern Iraq. Though newspapers outside of the USA have carried the story, only USA Today and The Boston Globe in America even carried the Associated Press report that included the horrible incident among other references to friendly fire.
The British who were involved in the attack "criticized the American pilot for showing “no regard for human life” and accused him of being a cowboy who had gone out on a jolly." This part--the truth--has been excluded from American media reports.
Unreported in the American press, was the Britons' bewilderment and anger that, despite flying very low over their heads, the A10 pilot apparently failed to recognize the coalition identification markings on their British-made tanks. Another vehicle in the five-strong convoy patrolling the marshes near the meeting of the Euphrates and Shatt al-Arab rivers bore a large Union Jack.
According to one of the injured Brits, “We can identify a friendly vehicle from 1,500 meters, yet you’ve got an A10 with advanced technology and he can’t use a thermal sight to identify whether a tank is a friend or foe. It’s ridiculous."
News services in America don't want to bring you the news. They want to deliver doctored news.
Reuters, carried by the New York Times, reported, "U.S. Says It Seized Cache of Iraqi Chemical Equipment." The implication of that headline is that the US military had found the pointer to the smoking gun of chemical weapons of mass destruction.
What they found, in reality, were chemical protection suits and decontamination equipment among a large Iraqi arms cache. Why report the find unless then implication is that they were prepared to use the equipment in conjunction with their own weaponry?
Why would the Iraqis not be expected to prepare for chemical attacks by others? If America once provided the Iraqis with sarin gas and also used it elsewhere, why wouldn't the Iraqis prepare for its use against them?
On another front, we don't know who’s responsible for the denial of service attacks on al-Jazeera news out of Doha. We do know that al-Jazeera is an independent voice in the Arab world. It's been incorrectly dubbed "the Arab CNN"--incorrect because CNN is another propaganda mouthpiece in America that sweeps reality under the carpet. CNN ignores the bloody bodies and instead has reporters embedded with United States troops on the battlefront.
We also know that al-Jazeera isn't afraid to show the bloodied corpses of Iraqis or Americans and that it came under heavy fire from the American media for showing captured Americans on TV.
Why should American politicians and the media want to deny the realties of war? Are they too sickening? The reality is that they're disgustingly sickening. That's war, and that's why the realities should be shown. Why should Americans or Britons be forced to accept or fight a war that will make them sick when they're exposed to the reality of it?
According to Donna Lienwand, writing in USA Today, The airing of a gruesome Iraqi government video of American prisoners of war on the al-Jazeera TV network provoked a steady stream of sharp condemnations from U.S. leaders, who said the Arabic-language news network has gone too far. Why do these American leaders want to hide the reality of the horrible situation they created?
Responding to an al-Jazeera reporter in a tense moment at a press briefing, US Lieutenant General John Abizaid said, "I regard the showing of these pictures as absolutely unacceptable." The brutality of the blood baths themselves is acceptable, but showing that reality is not! Well done, General!
Oddly enough, even the New York Times called the decision by the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq to bar the station's reporters "repugnant". Blasted by Washington and London for beaming distressing pictures from Iraq, al-Jazeera television said it would not censor the horrors of war. Nor should it. If anything should be eliminated for its horrors, it should be the invasion itself.
Now, Yellow Times, which publishes views that directly question, criticize, and berate the U.S. official line regarding the impending invasion of Iraq has been shut down by hacker attacks. As Firas Al-Atraqchi comments, "The campaign to stifle dissent and censor any questioning of current U.S. policies vis a vis the Middle East in general, and Iraq in particular, has reached new levels."
So much for the American rallies for a free press!
Calling the Iraq invasion "Operation
Iraqi Freedom" is like calling the Sept. 11, NYC disaster the
"New York City Skyline Beautification Project"

Greetings- This is another small letter of support; a few words that are ultimately of little importance. But I must write them. I am a Republican. I voted for Bush. And I'm ashamed. I do not support this war, which is not only illegal, but truly evil in nature. My government is behaving as the Soviet Union, committed to a war of conquest and plunder that violates the very spirit my country was built upon. The American people have been terrified into complete obedience; they are like rabid dogs. They are told that this war is for freedom by the American media, which has become a mouthpiece for the government. And that grieves my heart. Sometimes, the pain in my heart is so intense, I feel like I may die. I weep for the children of Iraq; I weep for the children of tomorrow who will inherit a world of death and hatred because of my government. May God be with those lucky souls who survive this nightmare. May God bless you. A small voice- Jason D.
Dear Iraq people,
As an Australian I would like to say sorry
for the injuries and deaths that the US, English and Australian's are
doing to your country.
Remember that it is not the citizens of
these countries that is causing this war, but their narrow minded
leaders, who can only see how much oil they can grab.

It's wrong to hurt little kids by Susan Pearson
There are 12 million children under the
age of 18 years residing in Iraq. Many of them were already suffering
from the effects of poverty and malnutrition. Now they and their
families are experiencing a full scale war.
To the corporations who seem to run the
world, I may be just a housewife but at least I know that it's wrong
to hurt little kids.
Despite my lack of money, power, and
status I'll tell you some other concepts that I also, somehow, have
managed to grasp.
I knew all this, but like most people
I just don't know what to do about it.
If we had only one International Law it
should be that it is wrong to directly or indirectly hurt children. If
everyone had to obey that law, the rest would be easy.
Susan Pearson
Dear editor, Even though Australia is part of the shameful Coalition currently invading Iraq, please know that there are many thousands of Australians who are deeply distressed and horrified by the killing of innocent Iraqi men, women and children, in their name. Carol Zarkesh

Dear Sir/Madam.
The
Arab are themselves to blame for what is happening right now in their
place. They always do not do anything when they have the time and
power to, until it is too late. Even now they are just waiting for
some other people in other part of the world to stop this war at their
place. I find it hard to believe that when someone attacks your
neighbors and you can let those attackers to use your place as a
launching pad for the attack. Even
right now the Arab is selling oil and whatever that is needed by the
attacker for their attack in Iraq. This shows that those people are
only selfish and greedy. The greed and selfish will only bring more
suffering to your very own people in the near future. Do not be fool
by those two MURDERERS, that you Arab will be having a better living
condition after they have kill Saddam. The next one will be you,
whether you like it or not, when the two MURDERERS do have not enough
oil or money to run their country. WAKE
NOW before all your future generation is doomed! You know what you can
do to stop this war if you want to. I think it is not hard to figure
out how to do it, since so many people have written about how the
attacker will suffer if there is no help from those countries around
Iraq. Whatever hate you have for that one person does not mean that
all the other people in that country have to be kill or hurt by the
bombing. Right now maybe some of those hurt or kill may be your
distance relative or long lost brother or sister. In here I hope you Arab will rise above your selfishness and greed and do what ever you have to do to prevent your future generation from further attack. May Allah unite you all? Thanks and best regards, Cktoh
Editor:
You're just blaming the victim. What did the people of Asia and Africa
do to Europeans throughout the 19th and the 20th century to invite
European imperialism. They did nothing. What did Koreans, Vietnamese,
and Iraqis do to cause the US wars against them? They did nothing
against the United States. It's the imperialist quest for resources
and markets that triggers imperialist wars. Arab rulers are just
puppets who only care about their power, not their people. The War is
not dangerous to Arabs only, it's dangerous to the whole world. That's
why there should be a world wide effort to stop it.

Dear editor,
I found this news on the net.
Could you please check its credentials and
put it up in your website and TV media? I think this news, if
proved, should be published to the Ummah. http://www.sundayherald.com/32522
I believe this news will prove the case
against the coalition forces once more very effectively in this stage
of the world. I am attaching the html aswell.

By Neil Mackay, Investigations Editor
BRITISH and American coalition forces are using
depleted uranium (DU) shells in the war against Iraq and
deliberately flouting a United Nations resolution which classifies
the munitions as illegal weapons of mass destruction."
Please let me know if you have verified
this news and able to put it in your site. I shall be ever
grateful.
Thanking you
Don Levi, Owosso, Michigan USA Arab and American reporting
American coverage tends not to show the most horrible pictures, but American coverage usually does suggest that civilians deaths may have been caused by the Americans troops. However, your coverage always eludes that anything negative for America, must be true fact. Is it possible that civilians are being killed by Saddam' supporters to prevent them from surrendering? Is it possible the civilians have been killed by Iraqi fire accidentally? We know civilians are dying, but if the American military wanted to "intentionally" target civilians, wouldn't Baghdad be completely flat by now? I'm obviously pro-American, but you as a journalist never seem to give both sides of the story? What about Saddam's slaughter of his own people over the years, doesn't his all of a sudden appeal to all Muslims for help smack of hypocrisy?
Editor: Fox and CNN give you the official story. Al-Jazeerah completes it for you, showing you the other side. It doesn't hurt you to know. I wish one day Al-Jazeerah will have enough resources to cover both and other perspectives.

Dear editor,
I have questions that I have not seen
commented by columnists anywhere.
How many thousands of American troops will
have to be stationed in Iraq after the war, if indeed the war is won
by coalition forces?
If the people of Iraq resist the
invaders and oppose them as happened with the underground French
resistance to the Nazis, are the Americans going to convert Iraq into
a police state in order to subjugate the people?
Is there some speculation about how the
people of Iraq will react to the invaders?
Mireya Folch-Serra Ph.D.
Associate Professor Department of Geography University of Western Ontario Editor: Israel keeps a 72,000 soldier army to control the 3.3 million Palestinians in occupied Palestine. Iraq, without Kurds, is about 22 million people. So, you need to multiply the Israeli figure by seven. Thus, the US needs about half a million soldiers in Iraq if Iraqis continue their resistance. I invite readers to speculate about the behavior of the Iraqi people in the future.
David Parry Today, CNN claimed the following headline: U.S.: Two key Iraqi divisions destroyed So, just how many people is that? I had rough ideas of the military terms "division", "regiment", "brigade", "troop", etcetera, but since I was a little unsure, I did a bit of googling and came up with the following definitions, which vary only marginally depending on whether you are using UK or non-UK jargon... because we're talking US here, I presume non-UK jargon: Division 2 or more brigades Brigade 2 or more regiments Regiment a number of companies, typically 10 Company a subdivision of troops, under the command of a captain typically 100 men.
So... given the minimum typical definition of a division we are talking about at least 8,000 men, maybe anywhere up to 20,000 - 40,000. The only figures on the current death toll are as follows (from www.aljazeerah.info): US: 51 killed, 14 missing UK: 26 killed Iraqi military: no confirmed figures Iraqi civilians (Iraqi estimates): 653 killed, 4840 injured Who knows what the Iraqi military casualty figure is... it's possible that it is very high indeed. But, are the Americans claiming that they killed the better part of 8000 men in 1 day? If this is true, then this is truly staggering! How did they do that without anyone having the slightest bit of information about when, where and how, apart from vague talks of "fierce fighting south of Baghdad" and "having secured Kerbala and Kut". Or did they use a nuke? Or a daisy-cutter? Did they pick them off one-by-one? Or what? Even given current technology and the diverse conditions that they have been working in, this really does stretch the imagination quite thin, and begs the obvious military question that maybe the Iraqis did the same thing they have done before... let the yankees think they've won and go running on towards Baghdad to later attack them from behind. It's either outright over-inflated lies to encourage a "rah rah" response from the folks at home, or one of the most heinous pieces of destruction unleashed by anyone anywhere (short of nuclear holocaust). Either explanation deserves more than two sentences, which is about all it's been given in mainstream press. Be prepared for more "creative journalism" from the Pentagon... oops, I mean CNN... I fear it's only going to get worse from here on in.
Editor: According to an Abu Dhabi TV commentator, an Iraqi Firqa (division) includes 15,000 soldiers. If 'destroyed' means killed, then CNN means that 30,000 Iraqi soldiers were killed.

Why
would anyone want O'Reilly to cover the Rose Lear story? He will
only put some horrible spin on it and claim he is telling the truth.
I have stopped watching O'Reilly except when I need a good purge of my
stomach.
To Bill O'Reilly (Fox News) & Aljazeerah:
Barbara Evans, Berkeley, CA
There are many anti-war protesters in the San Francisco Bay Area and the United States who are not in opposition to this war due to the terrible atrocities committed against the Iraqi people -- innocent people who have suffered greatly under the current regime. You say that Al-Jazeerah promotes cross-cultural understanding between people all over the world. You say that Al-Jazeerah is a free forum for objective treatment of issues that have major importance for world peace. I wonder if you will print the following article on Al-Jazeerah's website? (That would show me that you have at least some journalistic integrity.) Editor: I checked it. It was not pro-peace. Only pro-peace materials are published in this website.
Joshua Ferguson (4/3/03) I appreciate the alternative views and opinions found on your website. Although I want to believe my media, they are only shown bits and pieces of this war, and thus may not be showing the entire picture. Likewise, it appears that Al-Jazeerah is showing only injured or dead civilians or ther ever so rare minor victories of the Iraqi military. I tend to believe the truth is somewhere in the middle, but whereas United States television has reported U.S. killing of Iraqi citizens, I have yet to read, over the last few weeks, a single mention from your organization as to the massive amount of damage that must be incurring upon the Iraqi military. The same rhetoric came from the Iraqi government in 1991, but as the world now knows, they fully surrendered to U.S. forces in less than two months. Although I appreciate the courage of a people protecting their home, I fear that by feeding the citizens of Iraq these select images, you are falsely bloating their courage, which will ultimately lead to the loss of more life. Editor: The vast majority of Iraqis do not have access to the internet. Most of them do not read English anyway.
Dr. Ian D. Walker, West Brunswick, Victoria, Australia (4/1/03) Congratulations to the Al Jazeera team. I would like you to know how grateful many westerners are to have an alternative source of news to complement what is available in our own newspapers. The very existence of Al Jazeera and in particular the fear which organs of the western press have of authoritative contradiction puts a check on what the largely pro-war media can print. I and many others came to Al Jazeera as a direct consequence of this country's decision to assist the USA in its war against Iraq: we came to you because we needed to know how Arab people were thinking and feeling and because your English language web site is accessible and professional. You may be interested to know that Australian public interest in your newspaper has truly rocketed in the last few weeks and that other news outlets have been forced by local public opinion to cite and acknowledge you to an unprecedented extent. The Al Jazeera view on events often terminates many Australian press reports on this conflict. I am certain that long after this war is resolved, western liberals and intellectuals will continue to turn to Al Jazeera for an authoritative Arab viewpoint. This at least is one good thing to have come out of this misguided conflict. Your local readers may also be interested to know that millions of Australians oppose this war and regularly demonstrate against it. It is important to all of us that your readership understand that, for all its horror, this war has already united huge segments of Indonesian, Australian, Middle Eastern and Asian opinion against the so called coalition of the willing. I suspect that this emergent unity and common purpose is the last thing that the US ruling clique anticipated or wanted. I do hope that your articles continue to emphasise that public opinion in western countries, even those whose governments support the US, is bitterly divided - we are not all the same and those of us who opose the war in Australia have long memories and hold grudges.
