I just happened to notice that Detroit is not included among the major cities holding demonstrations against war on Iraq on Saturday February 15. In fact, there will be thousands of people from the Detroit area taking part in a demonstration that day. Also, there will be a large rally in Ann Arbor, the home of the University of Michigan. Finally, there is also a large demonstration in Lansing Michigan, the capitol of Michigan and home of the Michigan State University. Peace.

A Call for a Muslim March on Washington on the Day of Arafat

Assalaam Alaikum and Greetings:

So said our Prophet Muhammad (SAW) to his followers who laid down their lives and wealth for their faith and love of the Prophet.

Yet, I ask of myself as I ask of all of you, our leaders and spokespersons, as I have many times before and as I've written frequently. I am embarrassed that in my community as in communities across the world Muslims like me are the least participatory in physical demonstrations and in political campaigns to stop the war against Iraq and the daily bloodshed in Palestine, Chechnya, Kashmir and elsewhere.

Today in London US/UK non-Muslim citizens handed in copies of their passports to Tony Blair before departing to Baghdad to be human shields for Iraqi's. There were no Muslims among them.

Demonstrations in Washington DC have been overwhelmingly non-Muslim.

The time to analyze this shameful passivity is not now. The time for emails, phone calls, and letters is not now. The time to delve into intellectual debate on "Arab/Muslim reform", exiles, democracy is not now. We should have done that a long time ago prior to losing Palestine.

NOW IS THE TIME FOR ALL OF YOU AND US TO PUT OUT A CALL FOR HELP, A CALL FOR PEACE, A CALL TO STOP BUSH, THE MAD BOMBER, FROM KILLING ANY MORE MUSLIMS FOR WHATEVER REASON. THE MOMENTUM WORLDWIDE AGAINST THE WAR ON IRAQ COULD BE AND MUST UTILIZED TO BEAR ON THE PALESTINIAN, CHECHEN, AND KASHIMIRI ISSUE. THE WORLD IS AWAKENING WHILE OUR SLEEP DEEPENS TO OUR OWN DEATHS AND OPPRESSION. TIME TO ABANDON FEAR AND ALL OUR BAGGAGE FROM HOME IS NOW.

LET'S ALL CALL FOR THE LARGEST MUSLIM MARCH IN HISTORY ON WASHINGTON D.C. ON THE DAY OF ARAFAT WHICH BUSH WILL SURELY AWAIT BEFORE HE STARTS KILLING ARAB CHRISTIANS AND MUSLIMS. OUR AMBASSADORS ARE A.W.O.L., OUR VOICES ARE SILENT AND OUR FEET ARE WARM IN OUR LIVING ROOMS.

I called the French Ambassador and introduced myself as a US citizen, to ask him to use his veto power to veto any new UN resolution proposed by Pres. Bush. I was told that many, many people have been calling from the US with the same message and that a fax would more likely come to his attention.
